4 Important Facts to Learn About All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4Thanks to All-on-4 (which is also sometimes called “Teeth in a Day”), the lengthy process that’s typically required when getting dentures supported by dental implants can be drastically sped up; you can enjoy new teeth with less waiting and fewer appointments. However, you may find yourself asking, “What do I need to know before getting All-on-4 dental implants?” Here are 4 facts that you’ll want to keep in mind before starting the process of rebuilding your smile from the roots up.

1. All-on-4 Implants are Different Than Traditional Implants

Normally, it could take 6 to 8 implant posts to support dentures in your upper or lower arch; however, the All-on-4 procedure (as the name implies) requires only 4 thanks to the unique techniques used during the surgery. The posts are placed at angles so that they have the support of the densest areas of the bone; as a result, All-on-4 patients rarely need bone grafting, whereas traditional patients typically require such additional surgery because of the bone resorption that usually happens once teeth are lost. In other words, choosing Teeth in a Day could mean a shorter, more comfortable and less costly dental implant process!

2. All-on-4 Implants are Highly Successful

Even though All-on-4 is a relatively newer dental implant system, all the data so far points to the treatment being highly successful. Multiple studies have shown that the procedure has a success rate of 98% over a five-year period and a 95% success rate over a ten-year period, with the vast majority of patients not suffering from any kind of implant failure at all. The dentures these implants support have also been found to be very durable.

3. The Procedure is Not Risk Free…

Of course, anyone who asks, “What do I need to know before getting Teeth in a Day?” is probably concerned about potential complications. Needless to say, no procedure is completely failproof. The implant posts need to be placed very carefully, or else the dental implant and the bone might not join properly in the future. This is why it’s important to find a skilled dentist with experience and expertise when it comes to All-on-4.

4. …But the Benefits are Worthwhile

If you want to get back to your normal life as soon as possible after experiencing extensive tooth loss, All-on-4 is often the best way to get a new smile quickly while ensuring that you get to enjoy the advantages of dental implants (a healthier jawbone, better chewing power, better stability, and so on).

Talk to your dentist about All-on4/Teeth in a Day as well as other restoration options. Make sure you have all the facts before making any decisions on how to fix your grin.
